Why Does Some Siding Turn Pink?

Some Dark Blue and Green vinyl colors are complex. They mix multiple pigment bases, Which can include red, so when the top blue layer degrades from sun exposure, heat, or even reflection from nearby windows, the underlying red tones become visible.

Sun and UV Damage: Direct sunlight breaks down the PVC plastic molecules on the outer layer creating an Oxidation Powder layer, and rubbing an affected panel leaves a pale, sometimes pink-ish colored chalky residue on your hand.

Because the discoloration is not dirt or mildew but is an oxidized layer of the siding, a regular washing of the exterior siding will not remove the discolored Oxide Layer from the siding, and instead requires specialized detergents and cleaning processes to be used after the dirt and mildew is cleaned off.
